There are quite a few free email providers out there that offer up a free email address. Some are really good, and others are sketchy at best.
I would always suggest using a ‘brand name’ email company for your main email address. The lesser one’s are good to use if you don’t plan on having important info sent or recieved.

Gmail (Google)
Windows Live (used to be Hotmail and MSN)
(Remember, that I am talking about FREE email accounts. Paid email accounts are a whole different ball game, and generally, most of those provide exceptional features. That’s why they are not free.)
